Sandy Island

Just off of Carriacou and two miles from the north tip of Grenada lies Sandy Island. This tiny little Cay is completely deserted except for palm trees, a shallow lagoon and a white sand beach surrounded by turquoise blue waters. In 1999 Hurricane Lenny destroyed all of the vegetation on Sandy Island and since then, locals from the mainland and nearby Carriacou have worked hard to restore the island’s wildlife and preserve its natural environment.

Just offshore lies a coral reef with untouched coral gardens and a large variety of exotic fish. This is the perfect place to snorkel and discover a new world of underwater life. The quarter mile long beach has panoramic views over neighbouring islands to the north, and the mainland to the west.

Sandy Island is only small, but offers the perfect tropical getaway.
