Baie Lazare Mahe

Find a safe anchorage and come ashore to really appreciate what this majestic beach can offer. With soft sands laden with granite rocks and warm clear waters, it’s ideal for a swim, snorkel or sunbathe.

An important ecological site, Baie Lazare has one of only three roosts on Mahe that is occupied by one of the world’s rarest mammals the Seychelles Sheath-tailed Bat. So rare is the bat that its estimated only 50-100 bats are in existence and it’s currently on the endangered species list as close to extinction.

Take the opportunity to dine ashore here at the intriguing Maria’s Rock Café. Situated high up in the hills overlooking the bay, this fascinating restaurant has literally been carved out of the rock. With a Swiss Family Robinson feel to the décor, including its own pirate ship, the food is typically Creole and features freshly caught seafood. The views looking down over the bay are breathtaking and are a must see on your Seychelles adventure.
