Sa Rapita

The small coastal town of Sa Rapita is situated on the south coast of Mallorca. The Marina de Sa Rapita, which opened in 1971, is adjacent to the beach; Playa de Sa Rapita with its 1,100 metres of fine white sand and crystal clear shallow waters.
Founded by Charles III of Spain as a port to serve trade with the Spanish colonies, and constructed in the neoclassical style of the period. The town has two large marinas, a beach, a market and many shops and fish restaurants –shellfish or prawns are excellent here as this is a major fishing port. During the 16th to 19th century, Sa Rapita also played an important role in the defence of Palma from pirate attacks.
