Billbob Bay Shaw Island

Heading south you’ll come to Shaw Island, part of the Lindeman Islands National Park. With palm fringed beaches decorated by towering pink granite rocks and colourful coral reefs sparkling in the clear turquoise waters, Billbob Bay is considered to be the most quintessentially Australian bays in the Whitsundays archipelago, and a must see stop on your yacht charter.

Boasting the third highest hill in the Whitsundays, you’ll need your walking boots on to climb to the top, but it’s well worth the wait. The stunning panoramic vista out across the Coral Sea peppered with beautiful lush green isles fringed with strips of white and interspersed with reefs is truly breathtaking. As you mender back down to the beach be sure to keep an eye out for the delicate golden orchids growing between the mangroves at the edge of the beach and watch as some of the islands indigenous birds dart through the trees behind.

Dolphins can often be spotted from these shores all year and between July and November they’ll often be joined by Humpback whales who frequent these waters to mate each year. The fringing reef makes for some good snorkelling where you’ll find electric blue damsels and shy clown fish darting amongst the colourful coral gardens.
For total seclusion and relaxation hop back onboard for an early evening cocktail and catch the last warm hues of the Australian sun before it dips down behind the cool rocky exterior of the surrounding islands, all from the comfort of your yacht.
