Baie Hamene Tahaa

Located on the eastern side of Tahaa, opposite the Toahotu pass, is the fjord-like expanse of Haamene Bay.  Surround by a breathtaking coastline peppered with pristine-white sand beaches and lush coconut plantations. This scenic and secluded bay forms the largest protected body of water on Tahaa.

As you navigate through the bay, the sweet scent of vanilla gently floats towards you on the balmy breeze; head for the end of the bay where you’ll find the best anchorage for stepping ashore and exploring. There’s some superb snorkelling and diving to be had out on the reef where, amongst the myriad of exotic fish darting in and out of the coral you might just be lucky enough to meet with some playful dolphins.

Take the opportunity to visit the nearby black pearl farm, where you can see up close how these unique treasures are cultured from the large Black Lip Oysters and then handcrafted into exquisite pieces of jewellery. Head back ashore and to the warm welcome of the Maitai Restaurant for an excellent meal of sumptuous local Polynesian delicacies or French inspired cuisine; don’t be surprised if you find yourself caught up amongst the locals on the quay sampling the Hinano beers and listening to the crescendo of drums and soaring harmonies of Tahitian music as you watch them perform a traditional dance show. Jump back onboard for a peaceful nights rest in this tranquil and peaceful location.
