Sunsail’s RYA Competent Crew Course aims to introduce the complete beginner to cruising under sail and equip them with the skills required to be an active and useful crew member.
The course is completed over the course of 5 days, with 100 miles at sea in tidal waters and 4 hours of night sailing. In the UK this course can also be taken over consectutive weekends.
A RYA Competent Crew Course is ideal preparation for those wishing to set sail on one of Sunsail’s Level 0 Easy flotillas in Turkey or Greece.
The course gives students a sound knowledge and understanding of the yacht and all the basic sailing techniques including rope work, mooring up and casting off.
The Sunsail RYA Competent Crew course aims to introduce the complete beginner to cruising under sail, thereby enabling them to become an active crew member. This will be achieved having completed 5 days and 100 miles at sea in tidal waters and 4 night hours.
Although you have the option to familiarize yourself with the basics of yacht sailing prior to the RYA Competent Crew course, it is not a requirement that you have any previous sailing experience.
Upon completion, you will have sound knowledge and understanding of the yacht, including basic rope work, mooring up and casting off as well as confidence under sail and under power.
Sunsail offers the Competent Crew course at all of our worldwide bases and on completion you will be able to set sail on any of our level 0 Easy Flotillas.
